THOMPSON@Darcy’s becomes THOMPSON St Albans
The team at THOMPSON St Albans extends its heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all our guests for their tremendous support since opening as THOMPSON@Darcy’s in November 2013. With the support of our guests from St Albans, neighbouring areas and some further afield, we have had a highly successful first two years and are exceptionally proud of our achievements so far.
We hope Kate D’Arcy would be proud of how we have evolved what was very much her restaurant. Kate D’Arcy was a huge part of the success of the restaurant, formerly known as D’Arcy’s, along with Chef and founder Ruth Hurren. We will remain forever grateful for the contributions made by Ruth and Kate to the former success of D’Arcy’s. Kate D’Arcy’s ashes still to this day remain in a beautiful pot (see photograph to the right hand side) on the terrace of the restaurant.
Phil Thompson took over the restaurant 1st November 2013 and re-named it THOMPSON@Darcy’s largely out of respect for and in honour of Kate D’Arcy. “I have waited for the right opportunity and the right person to come and take Darcy’s forward, and it’s only since meeting Phil that I knew it was time to go home.” Chief chef and founder of Darcy’s Restaurant, Ruth Hurren.
We have worked hard as a team to bring something different to St Albans, recognised in the St Albans Chamber of Commerce Business Awards ‘Best Restaurant 2015/16’. Now, just over two years after Phil Thompson and the team arrived in St Albans, we are changing the restaurant name to THOMPSON St Albans. The THOMPSON part speaks for itself… the St Albans part – we would not have a business or a successful restaurant without it!
THOMPSON St Albans is a relaxed fine dining environment, with a team of chefs in the kitchen, expert and well-trained front of house and owners who are literally bursting with passion and pride. As a fine dining restaurant, the most important thing to the team as a whole is that you our guest, have a wonderful dining experience, looking forward to your next visit to us. Our menus are ever changing with the seasons, providing wonderful flavour combinations along with wines to match and delicious cocktails.
We are closing on 4th January and re-opening on 15th January as THOMPSON St Albans and will also be taking the opportunity to close on a Sunday evening, all day Monday and on Tuesday lunchtime in 2016. This will allow us to invest in our staff and fulfil the first step in our future plans for THOMPSON St Albans.
Once again THANK YOU to all our guests for your wonderful support to date and Happy New Year from the team at THOMPSON St Albans!
A special mention to the team “Thank you for your loyalty, support and commitment in making THOMPSON St Albans an amazing place to work and for our customers to enjoy a fabulous fine dining experience. I could not have done this without you and those that have demonstrated their tremendous loyalty to us in these initial years – it really is an honour to work with you – thank you!” Phil Thompson – Owner, THOMPSON St Albans
