About Paul Ainsworth
I was first introduced to Paul Ainsworth in 2011, at lunch with my best mate, Michelin-starred Chris Eden, Head Chef of the Driftwood in Cornwall. It was great for me to meet Paul when he and I were both competing in BBC2’s Great British Menu that year.
On the programme, Paul went on to cook dessert, A Trip to Fairground, for The People’s Banquet. It was truly an amazing dessert visually, and tasted even better than it looked! I had to cook against Tom Kerridge and Tom Aikens; two culinary giants and an Essex boy… in one kitchen! Paul’s character stood out and what you see on TV is every bit as genuine as the guy he really is, an amazing, talented chef, lovely guy, fun to be around and now a proud husband and father.
Paul has worked with some of the most talented chefs in this country: Gary Rhodes, Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing to name but a few. Paul constantly appears on television, in shows including Saturday Kitchen, Great British Menu, MasterChef, Yes Chef and Royal Recipes.
He is an award-winning restaurateur with Paul Ainsworth at No6 and Rojanos In The Square, both located in Padstow. Most recently Padstow Townhouse, six suites in Padstow’s old town, has been added to his amazing portfolio.
He was awarded a 5-star, gold rating in the AA Hotel Guide for Padstow Townhouse, along with the AA ‘Restaurant with Rooms of The Year’ award for 2017-2018. Paul Ainsworth at No6 boasts a Michelin Star, 7/10 in the Good Food Guide and four AA Rosettes. Finally, Paul also has one AA rosette at Rojanos In The Square. This truly is a remarkable CV for such a young chef.
Paul is regarded as one of the best chefs in this country, not only for his food style but also for his manner and the way in which he runs his kitchen, changing the perception of Head Chefs and the industry generally. He is also one of the chefs who have put Cornwall on the map as a culinary destination.
It is an honour to have Paul come and co-host an evening with me offering something very special to eating out in St Albans, not only as someone I admire in the cooking industry but also as a friend. Over the years, we have both been through a lot and knowing someone is there for you, that understands everything you go through means so much. That’s why I love this industry – you have support from so many people. When we get together we chefs do know how to party, and Paul Ainsworth has a particular love in this field!
