Seasonal Sunday fare
Here at THOMPSON St Albans we do love Sunday lunch; with classic British dishes, good cooking, relaxed and friendly service and great value for money. Every week Sunday menu includes a selection of beautifully cooked seasonal vegetables with plenty of tasty gravy and duck fat roast potatoes – and let’s not forget a giant Yorkshire pud. Roast beef (a Sunday classic) is on offer every single week, but in addition, there’s a choice of four additional meat or fish dishes, which are different every time. As we see it, Sunday lunch is all about beautiful cuts of meat and lovely, succulent fresh fish alternatives, served up in abundance, with lots of wonderful seasonal vegetables.
If you love crumbles, warm sponges, bread and butter and rice pudding, we will always have a classic option on the menu. We also have lighter, seasonal options, such as citrus fruit salad with refreshing meringue and blood orange sorbet, almond tart and my decadent chocolate mousse. So, whether you want hearty comfort food, or something light, sweet, flavoursome and refreshing to finish off your Sunday lunch, you can’t go wrong with Sunday lunch at THOMPSON St Albans.
If you have children and don’t feel comfortable going to ‘fancy’ restaurants with them, then our child-friendly Sunday lunch in St Albans is ideal. The atmosphere at the restaurant on a Sunday is warm and relaxed, with a great vibe. You definitely won’t feel embarrassed if you drop a knife on the floor or laugh too loudly. Mums and dads love the fact the children have their own menu and that it’s all freshly cooked; we put just as much effort into the children’s menu as we do the rest of our fare. Our DIY ice cream cones are always a hit, and can be decorated with freeze-dried raspberries, chocolate popping candy and a home-made raspberry puree. Our raspberries come from my father-in-law John’s allotment.
