Tom Kerridge at THOMPSON St Albans

Tom Kerridge and Phil Thompson will be hosting an evening, Monday the 3rd of August, at THOMPSON St Albans fine dining restaurant in St Albans. Tom and Phil met at a celebratory party when Phil first achieved his Michelin star in 2009, which he retained for the following four years, prior to opening THOMPSON St Albans, Nov 2013. They judged Master Chef the professional together, four years in a row. Phil Thompson was chosen to represent the London & South East region on the Great British Menu in 2011, competing against, Tom Kerridge and Tom Aitkens. Unsurprisingly, Tom Kerridge made it to the final for the second year running and was a judge the following year.

The evening will be in support of Rennie Grove Hospice, a charity Phil Thompson has supported since arriving in St Albans 18 months ago. Phil has already raised £5,800 and with this celebrity chef evening, hopes to raise a further £2,500, totalling £8,300 in donation to Rennie Grove Hospice. Tickets are £95 per person, to include canapés on arrival and a 4 course food tasting menu, please note drinks/wine are not included. £30 per ticket will be donated to Rennie Grove Hospice.

Tom will cook the starter and main course, Phil will cook the fish course and dessert. The evening will be interactive, with each section of our restaurant; the upstairs, our conservatory and front room, adjacent to our lounge bar, will be greeted by Tom and Phil during the evening to discuss the dishes and of course answer any questions you may have. We will offer a choice of three seating times, in order to maximize Tom’s time with our guests, 18.30, 19.00, 19.30.

No refunds for cancellations, unless we are able to re-sell the table. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the point of booking.

Originally from the West Country, his early career started in country house hotels and restaurants in Gloucestershire, he moved to London in his early twenties, where he worked with well known chefs such as Phillip Britton, Steven Bull and Gary Rhodes. Leaving London, he moved to Norwich where he was Head Chef at the one Michelin starred Adlards before setting up the Hand and Flowers with his wife Beth, and had maintained that Michelin star since 2006, until 2012 where the Hand and Flowers now holds two Michelin Stars.

The Hand and Flowers was opened in March 2005 by Tom and Beth Kerridge. In less than a year they gained themselves one Michelin Star, 6/10 and Buckinghamshire Newcomer of the Year in The Good Food Guide, 3 AA Rosettes and one Egon Ronay Star. In 2012, Michelin Guide for UK and Ireland, the Hand and Flowers is the first pub to have been awarded 2 Michelin Stars. Tom was previously head chef at Adlards in Norwich (one Michelin star), and senior sous chef at Monsieur Max in Hampton (which also had one Michelin star). Before then, Tom cooked at London restaurants including Odettes, Rhodes in the Square, Stephen Bull and The Capital.
